Kieran & Chris | Searles Castle | New England Area Wedding Photographer

20 May

Any time I photograph at or near a castle I can’t help but think of fairy tales. And Kieran and Chris’s wedding was no exception.

Searles Castle in Windham, NH was a perfect backdrop to the elegant and heartfelt vows exchanged by the happy couple. I couldn’t have asked for a more beautiful day or a more loving couple. And I have to say that I couldn’t have done it without my amazing second shooter, Amanda Fisher!

Last week I learned two things. First I learned that there is event space available at The Moakley Courthouse in Boston.

Here’s a snippet from their website :

5 Apr newborn baby girl photograph

newborn baby girl photographyWorld….. Meet my newest, tiniest client. At only 15 days old this little one was resisting her beauty sleep because she didn’t want to miss a single thing happening around her! Well, at least that’s how I like to think of it.

Kelley | Headshots | Boston Area Photographer

20 Mar Kelly, outdoor headshot

Last week I had the extreme pleasure of connecting with my past client, Kelley. She was in need of some updated professional photos and what we came away with that day totally captures Kelley’s personality and will help to present a professional front in her position as the Executive Director of Sibling Connections.

In this media frenzied world we all want to look our best and present ourselves in a way that is appropriate for the different hats we wear. In Kelley’s case she knew that Facebook photos were not going to work for her anymore… so we went for a look that was clean and uncluttered. Below you will see our favorites from the session.

Often we are taking care of others and giving more of our time to those around us and forget to take a minute for ourselves. If you find yourself in a similar position of wanting some new photos, there is not time like to present to contact me to set up an appointment. As you’ll see we can accomplish both outdoor and indoor options to fit everyone’s needs.

Sarah & Rich | Uncommon Ground – Chicago | Destination Wedding Photographer

21 Feb Bride and Groom , Uncommon Ground on Devon, brick wall

Wedding Dress detail, Chicago WeddingI don’t know about you, but my friends are extensions of my family. Therefore when my longest standing friend got engaged, it was as if a sister (or what I think it would feel like if I had a sister) had told me the wonderful news! Not only have I known Sarah since High School, or possibly even Middle School, but we have been close throughout the years, despite the distances. So, it is with extreme joy to bring to you my favorites from Sarah and Rich’s wedding day this past Saturday.

A couple of days before the wedding Sarah told me that her co-workers were wondering how quickly the photos would be ready. Not that I was surprised by this question, but the reason was because they couldn’t wait to see Sarah in a dress. I think it’s safe to say that hoodies are a staple in her wardrobe, not dresses and heels. So, on that note, you may start to understand just how grand the day was…

Hair and Make up for wedding, spoil me salonAfter Sarah was finished and the others were getting dolled up I caught Sarah on her phone. I thought maybe I’d catch her texting Rich some cute reminder or something, but no…

Sarah had numerous shoes to wear throughout the day. I’m not sure I knew about the shoe addiction before that day, but now we all know. ha.

There’s the bride hoodie that was more present the night before, but it still helped insulate her for the trip to the venue.

Then it was off to Uncommon Ground.

Sarah found Rich and gave him a hand with his tie. Rich looked dashing in his Tux!

Next up I swept them outside to the roof deck for some formal photos. These two were troopers as it was mighty chilly. You’ll see that Sarah kept her coat and boots on for some of these but also braved it in others. I’ll say, we are all Midwesterners…. and a hearty bunch at that…. but my thumb did go numb at one point, which is when it was safe to say we should go inside.

What does that thermometer say in the back…. brrrrrr….

You two couldn’t make it look any easier! Congratulations.

I can’t say enough good things about Travis and the staff at Uncommon Ground. They run a good show and mix some amazing drinks. And at this point all the guests were tended to with apps and drinks before the meal.

Nommmm, being a guest as well as the Photog has some wonderful perks. Bloody Mary’s are my current weakness, so I was pleased… mighty mighty pleased.

Janez & Mike | Fairy Tale Wedding | Cape Cod Wedding Photographer

22 Jan

As I was looking back and organizing things for the upcoming season, I realized I had a few (more than I thought) weddings and events that I didn’t get to blogging about. So, I’m going to take this time to remedy that!

First one that caught my eye was Janez and Mike’s wedding in Mashpee. Now, I’d never been to Mashpee. The name is one that will forever stick in my memory because when I first moved to Massachusetts and was sitting in traffic to get over the canal, it was signs for Mashpee that intrigued me. It only took 9 years and one month and a scheduled wedding to get me there. What I found in Mashpee was a beautiful area, lush and green in the height of summer. Not only that, but Janez and Mike’s friends and family were a hoot and a holler! After again getting stuck on the bridge before being able to head into Mashpee, I was thrilled to find Janez getting ready for her big celebration.

I took the utmost care of Janez’s dress, as I gave it a tour around her parent’s yard. Just wait ’til you see it on her! I also kept a close eye out so that Mike would not catch me… as he was getting ready in the house next door. Photography is much more than just taking photos… it’s also about being stealthy, among many, many, many other things.

All the details were coming together. There was an entire crew of cooks making sure that this delicious menu was ready for later. Menu card in teal/aqua theme with plate setting for Cape Cod Wedding

Next we headed to a friend’s private property where we were able to capture some portraits of the couple and bridal party!

Janez was a brave bride and headed straight out on the dock despite the rain that was starting to form. Luckily it held out long enough to accomplish just what we wanted to.
