This beautiful baby girl was a delight… start to finish. Great expressions… plus, good taste in music and literature already, I can’t wait to watch her grow up into a lovely little lady!
Sarah & Ryan wed at the gorgeous Henderson House in Weston, MA.
The details were soft and classic. From the same six pence Sarah’s Mother wore on her wedding day, to lacy touches on the invites and bouquet, it was clear in even our first conversations that a lot of thought went into the entire day and no item was too small.
Both Sarah and Ryan surrounded themselves with their closest friends and family and I was certain they had fun on their mind.
As everything unfolded for the day I was in awe of how stunning Sarah was and inspired by how Ryan looked at her as she became his wife. Absolutely beautiful.
Another successful wedding day in this memorable season!
Once again, I thank Cheryl for second shooting and making the day run smooth.
On a beautiful morning in June I met up with Vanessa and Josh and their pooch, Sammy. (Josh’s sister came along too, you won’t see her here though… she handled Sammy when he wasn’t in the photos… I can’t emphasize how helpful that was!)
The plan was to hit up the North End and a bit of the Waterfront and then also the Fenway Park area… and by-golly we did it!
I was introduced to a new spot along the Waterfront where if you stand in the right position you get an amazing echo when you talk… It is super cool and I’ve already shown a few friends! I feel pretty special that these two would share that space with me and it’s significance for them!!!
These two are ahead of the game, so you won’t be seeing them again until next year…
Michelle and Mike’s wedding is next weekend! I can’t believe that the time has gone by so fast and their big day is about to happen.
These two are incredibly sweet and kind and I couldn’t be happier for them. Last September we headed out to the Public Garden and North End and had a blast making our way through the Hemp Festival, yes, I said Hemp Festival! Ha. I had taken the T in and as I crossed over the Common I saw this low lying “fog” hanging over the park. I didn’t realize what was happening until I really got to the area, but quickly I totally understood, if you know what I mean…
Once I finally met up with Michelle and Mike we had a good chuckle about it and proceeded to avoid the area as much as possible.
Don’t they just have the best smiles?!
I particularly like this shot, and keep in mind this was intentional, not because of the festival…. ha ha ha.
After our time in the Garden we did make a outfit change and had to weave our way through the crowd on the Common again. I found it hilarious, it’s not quite possible to make out the emotions Michelle and Mike are having here…
This is where Mike proposed and where Michelle squealed with joy. Being back in this spot with these two, you could tell it has a lot of meaning for them.
I heard their engagement story again last week and while at that time the area was pretty abandoned (except for one stranger who insisted on sitting right next to them…) On the day of this session it was quite the opposite. So, we embraced it and I was psyched to get this kid to work with us…
… laugh at me laying on the ground to get an angle… well, I’ll approach you and make you part of the photo… BAM!
All the while, nothing phased these two and their love shined on and on.
As you can see, Michelle and Mike are a lot of fun…
… and I’d call them sentimental and romantic all at the same time.
Mike lived in the North End while the two were dating so we went back to their old stomping grounds and grabbed a few keepers!
The City holds a special place in their hearts, so it was a extreme pleasure to capture these moments with them.
Now it’s time for the big celebration! Congratulations Mike and Michelle… I can’t wait to see you exchange your vows and start this new journey!

Last week I learned two things. First I learned that there is event space available at The Moakley Courthouse in Boston.
Second, I was introduced to another organization in the Boston area that is doing some spectacular work for the youth in the Greater Boston Area.
Here’s a snippet from their website :
“Breakthrough Greater Boston (BTGB) is a year-round, tuition-free academic program that serves middle and high school students in greater Boston.”
Their event brought in lots of supporters and they were treated to a colorful ambiance.
There were fantastic prizes in the raffle as well as some wonderful big ticket, live auction items.
Around every corner I found guests conversing and socializing….. and just having a good ‘ol time.
The students and teachers also had a couple of stations to show people some of the ideas they have been learning about!
They all did such a great job!
Some delicious food was served and it was almost time to start the program.
Last minute discussion among a couple of the speakers…
… and then it was time for the program to begin…
The teachers and students got the crowd involved and energized immediately!
Elissa, Executive Director, had many thanks and praise to announce to the audience.
And the audience’s participation was phenomenal.
The testimonials from current and former students were moving.
And based on Kayla and Kevin’s stories at the podium, it is clear how much Breakthrough is making positive changes in young people’s lives.
As the night wrapped up and people grabbed a sweet and a souvenir… I reflected on how it was a great honor to meet so many wonderful people at Springfest 2013. Breakthrough is an organization truly worth knowing about and worth saluting for all of their accomplishments thus far.
Kuddos to you Breakthrough! You put together an amazing event!

Last week I had the extreme pleasure of connecting with my past client, Kelley. She was in need of some updated professional photos and what we came away with that day totally captures Kelley’s personality and will help to present a professional front in her position as the Executive Director of Sibling Connections.
In this media frenzied world we all want to look our best and present ourselves in a way that is appropriate for the different hats we wear. In Kelley’s case she knew that Facebook photos were not going to work for her anymore… so we went for a look that was clean and uncluttered. Below you will see our favorites from the session.
Often we are taking care of others and giving more of our time to those around us and forget to take a minute for ourselves. If you find yourself in a similar position of wanting some new photos, there is not time like to present to contact me to set up an appointment. As you’ll see we can accomplish both outdoor and indoor options to fit everyone’s needs.

Congratulations to Deb & Jeff, whom I had the pleasure of meeting on their Wedding Day. It was a beautiful Sunday in Cambridge when these two said I do.
The one thing I will hold onto about this day, the strongest memory that is already there for me, is how contagious their laughter was!
In fact, many of those involved in the day were laughing…
But not only were they a lot of fun, they also clearly Love each other dearly!
I adore a first kiss… but this moment right after the kiss and when you see the meaning of what has just happened at a wedding and the couple knows the importance of that moment is pretty spectacular too!
The reception was held at the Copley Fairmont, which was such a treat.
Doesn’t Deb just look beautiful in this soft light? She was poised and graceful throughout the evening… just stunning.
There was even a little surprise for the couple. These guests showed off their skills and gave everyone cause to applaud.
As the evening proceeded on and the traditions were completed… the party started! And boy did the party start! No one held back once the dance floor opened up!
My time had come to leave and I felt like everything had happened way too quickly, so I can’t imagine just how Deb & Jeff felt… but I do know that they brought a group of people together that really love them and support the journey they are starting out on.
Congratulations again Deb & Jeff! And thank you to Rick Bern Photography for the opportunity to Second shoot for this wedding.
If you or someone you know are getting married I am now booking 2013 Wedding Dates. Don’t hesitate to set up a time to talk about your photography needs.

As some of you know, I occasionally donate portrait sessions to charity Raffles and Auctions in the form of Gift Certificates! By doing these activities not only do I feel like I’m contributing more to organizations whose Missions I connect with but I also meet some incredible new clients. These are folks who I may not have connected with if it hadn’t been for these great causes! In this week’s blog feature I want you to meet Yojanse! Yojanse is a talented individual in his own right and was so enthusiastic at the Easter Seals event where I met him, I don’t think I contained my excitement at all when his name was pulled out of the raffle!
Yojanse chose this Boston Landmark for his shoot and brought his friend along! Below are just a handful of my favorites from the shoot….
Now, please note, these guys are not models, but… I think that should their careers take a different turn BOTH these gents could make it happen. They exude confidence and personality, which was so much fun to photograph!
Don’t you agree?
With a location this cool and with so much architecture it’s incredible to utilize the structures to enhance the feel.
Yojanse really is too cool for me! Ha ha ha! Fun Times!
Thank you Yojanse… a) for a great photoshoot! b) more importantly for donating to the Easter Seals!
Just remember, a session like this could be all yours too! Next steps for you… Email me (jennaltonphoto@gmail.com)! Book with me!
Last week I was checking out Boston.com headlines and one caught my eye. MIT’s Piano Drop Celebrates 40 Years…. How could I possibly deny my gut and make the time to go check it out. So, as I crossed the river on Thursday and while it was a perfect day for sailing, when I turned back around and headed toward Cambridge I could already see the spectacle that was to be my afternoon distraction.
Yep, I threw on my longer lens and sure enough that is a piano on the roof of that building.
You know you’re near MIT when there are signs of SMOOTS and you overhear conversations about Standard Deviations. And then you start to hear someone with a bullhorn encouraging free food and a chance to watch a piano drop from a 6 story building…
Indeed a fair amount of caution tape was used but not nearly as much as I had expected.
And to my surprise, there was a piano on the ground as well as on the roof… ummmm, what? Double Pianos? Well, now this is getting exciting!
You may be asking yourself, what’s the purpose, well, as it turns out it started by a bit of a prankster on the last day you could drop a class for the Semester… and well, it’s been a tradition ever since, and while you may have other questions my only question that day was whether I could get up on that roof too! And indeed…
I crammed in with a bunch of college students and headed up to the roof… with a few stops in between… I was not disappointed.
Things were rigged up and the last few communication checks were happening…
Everything seemed under control and time was drawing near, so with a final look around and the crowd growing on the ground below I headed back down to ensure a good spot.
I overheard plenty of comments about what the impact will be like and whether they had protected enough windows and such. My concern was more about whether something might come flying at my camera lens and I decided to have blind faith that after 40 years these MIT folks know what they’re doing… {shrug}
The excitement grew and everyone was poised and ready… And, well, a lot of news stations had shown up and I chose to stand closest to the AP. Why not?
The time had finally come… 5, 4, 3, 2, 1….
Click above to see the animation of the drop!
I can’t even explain how fast this all happened. I shouldn’t have been surprised, but I was…
The crowd was happy! And before the dust even settled something I didn’t expect happened…
…this woman, I presumed was a Professor ran out, and well then the rest of the crowd joined her…
It took me a moment to understand, but… they were taking souvenirs. AHHHHHH… I see… ha.
This was a popular item… and then others got very ambitious…
Apparently there were a couple cameras strapped to the dropped piano so these guys were trying to recover them in the chaos and carnage!
I bet that when this piano was made, it’s fate would never have been guessed… from up there…
And soon, things calmed down and people headed out with their treasures and things returned to normal.
And I raced home hoping not to get rained on. Until next time!
This weekend was the Boston ComiCon! I’ve never gone before but -ZAP- the opportunity arose to go on Sunday.
Jason had the honor of being the mascot for Have2Run Production’s booth. They were promoting the Superhero Race that happens every October in Cambridge. Here is a blog post from last years run. If you’re interested in running/walking this year you can sign up on the website.
The rest of the convention was a combination of artists, characters, collectors, vendors, fanatics, and gawkers (like me). But first everyone had to get in past this guy… the Gatekeeper.
I quickly became a fan of watching the artists work on their sketches. There was a lot of talent sitting in this room.
Some artists were so popular that there were lines growing just to get a moment to talk with them.
Besides the artists there were also the comics. And I mean a lot of comics!
Every character had their own pint glass it seemed. And people of all ages enjoyed picking out their favorites!
Some groups even took this opportunity to raise money for the charities of their choice. The 501st Legion had a booth where you could shoot various Storm Troopers to raise money for the Shriners Hospital!
There were breakout sessions (I didn’t attend) and people were interviewed. Basically, it’s a really big to-do!
But again, my favorite part were the artists.
Every age group was represented!!!
All sorts of Vendors were present.. Above is Boston’s Weekly dig! Below is a product offered by Bexx Fine!
Overall I think the crowds were entertained and went home happy… I certainly did!
